Turnover Interview (Virginia Emotional Pop Punk)

First off, state your name and role in Turnover.

My name is Danny and i play bass.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn't heard it?

Emotional, punk rock.

How's the Pop Punk and Hardcore scene in Virginia?

Virginia's pop punk scene isn't very great right now. Not too many bands coming from the area. The shows are always awesome though a lot of kids enjoy the music. I just wish they'd all start bands. The hardcore scene here is great. Check out Lockdown, Paper Trail, and Tough Luck.

How did you get involved with Broken Rim Records?

Basically we self released the S/T EP digitally and he happened to come by it. He was one of a few people that was interested in helping us make it a physical release. We didn't really know Kyle personally at all but i feel like we just knew he was the perfect guy to work with. We were definitely right.

Can you give us some details on your upcoming winter tour with True Things?

This tour is gonna be a lot of fun because this will be our first time touring with another band. We're playing a lot of places we haven't yet which makes us really nervous. Hopefully kids come out to the shows and hopefully we don't freeze to death.

Any plans on playing in Canada in the new year?

We plan on it. We haven't put anything into action yet though.

What's the craziest thing you've seen while on tour or at a show?

We didn't really have anything too crazy happen on tour during the summer which is definitely a good thing i think. I think we may have seen a car on fire or something though. I saw some kid get knocked out at a The Story So Far show a few days ago. That was pretty crazy i guess.

What's your favourite show that you've played so far as a band?

Almost every show we played on tour this summer was great though. It was awesome seeing kids come out to our shows and knowing our lyrics. We never expected that. Buffalo, NY and Ashtabula, OH were probably my favorites though.

This spring you'll be releasing a split 7" with Michigan's Citzen. How did that come together? Can you give up any details on the new songs?

I've been talking to the guys in Citizen for a while now and we always just talked of the idea but didn't do anything about it. One day i brought it up to Kyle from BRR and he was really into it so we just made these ideas come to life. We're really excited to work with those guys. They write some really great music. Check out their new EP, Young States, if you haven't done so already (http://citizenmi.bandcamp.com/).

Do you guy's have any plans on writing/recording a full length album?

That's definitely what we think our next step is. We haven't started writing yet though.

What can your fans expect from Turnover in 2012?

A lot more touring, some new songs, and maybe an upside dog or two on facebook.

Thanks for your time, any final comments?

Thanks to you for doing this interview. We want everyone reading this to come hang out with us on tour. Bring us food.
