Get Ready For This Interview

First off, can you state your name and role in Get Ready For This?

I'm Juan Francisco(A.K.A. Pony)and i play guitar and write some lyrics for GRFT.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it?

Well, i have to say that that we play catchy pop-punk, with easycore elements such as breakdowns and stuff like that, plenty of synths that reminds you of old school video games; when it comes to the lyrics, of course that they will remind you past and failed relationships mixed with a video game themed background.

How’s the pop punk scene in Mendoza, Argentina.

Basically there's no such thing as a Pop-Punk scene, i mean there's a couple bands that label theirselves as Pop-Punk; personally i don't like any of them but who cares, what i can say is the Pop-Punk in our country is way too delayed, i mean people is still stoked on bands like goldfinger, millencolin, lagwagon and those cool bands from the 90's but man it's 2011 and there's a lot of awesome bands in this era.

Are there any bands from Argentina that you could recommend?

Mmmm to be honest i'm not that into the bands from Argentina, but there's a band that we like, it's called Smile, they sing in spanish but they're cool; i also can recommend you The Bear Season, a band from Uruguay (a small country too close to Argentina), they are awesome!

What bands have influenced you the most?

First off i have to say that New Found Glory, cause they are like the Godfathers of the easycore movement haha, but we also are strongly influenced by French Easycore bands, like Chunk! No Captain Chunk!, Can't Bear This Party(Gods), Sail To North. All Time Low, Four Year Strong, Man Overboard and a thousand more, we also have to say that we love Anamanaguchi.

Video games seem to be a big influence on your music. What are some of your all time favourite games?

This is THE question! haha. When it comes to video games i'm such a nerd dude. Some of my favourite games are: Sonic The Hedgehog 3(Sega), Contra (NES), Captain Tsubasa 2 (NES), Double Dragon, TNMT II the arcade game, Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi Budokai 3 (PS2) and a lot of old school games. But on weekends when we meet with the dudes for playing some sweet video games, we'd go with some RockBand or Left 4 Dead.  Personally i can't wait to get my PS3 to play Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game!

How did you feel about the Sonic The Hedgehog cartoon?

Man! i grew up playing the Sonic games for my Sega Genesis, way back when i was a lonely kid, so in some ways Sonic was my best friend; i also got a Sonic The Hedgehog tattooed on my arm.  About the cartoon series, i must admit that i can barely remind the episodes cause i was young but it was nice to see my friend on the TV, nice memories.

Any plans on recording a full length?

Yeah, it's on our plans recording a full length, in fact we're in the work of new killer songs for a full length album, but we want to take our time in the composition of the songs. So, get stoked on it! cause GRFT is here to stay! for a long long time.

What’s your favourite place to play live?

Honestly we haven't played yet with GRFT; we all have played in another bands but not with this one. But we love to play everywhere, i mean it's cool to play in a party or in a show plenty of bands, we don't really care of the other bands as long as our friends will be there supporting us, it's always good to reach new crowds.

Do you have any upcoming tours planned?

Planned, we wanted to tour everywhere we can! but nothing confirmed; but right now we're in "negociations" with the bear season's manager to set up a mini tour to Uruguay/Chile with the bears, so, we're more than stoked on it!

What can your fans expect for the rest of 2011?

A lot of gigs and parties! maybe that tour i said before. Maybe a single or a music video, it's on our plans but you have to stay tunned for more updates.

Any final comments?

First off, i want to thank you Chris for the interview! this is our first international interview and it was so good to spend this time telling you a bit more about this 4 dudes known as Get Ready For This.  We'd like to thank to our families, friends and people supporting us! we love each one of our listeners, that's why we take our time replying each one of their comments; we're a hard working brand new band from a small town that wants a chance to reach as many hearts as we can (that's so cheesy, i know haha)
