On My Honor (Tennessee Pop Punk)
First off, state your name and your roles in On My Honor?
Lucas Sams-Guitar
Drew Justice-Vocals
David Fear-Bass
How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it?
Lucas: It depends on the person we're talking with. We consider ourselves to be a really melodic pop-punk band that focuses on musicianship a little more than most but not everyone knows what that means. If we're talking someone who we can tell has no background in what we do we're pretty broad with how we describe ourselves. If we're talking with someone that we can tell has a solid understanding of what we're doing we get a little more specific. Mostly, we give them a set of headphones hooked up to an I-pod and let them listen, to us, that's that best way.
What bands have influenced you the most?
Lucas: We all share a lot of common influences (except our drummer Trey who has a little different taste) but we all love The Starting Line, Jimmy Eat World, The Movielife, Relient K, Anberlin, Rufio etc. Trey is a big fan of bands like Glassjaw and Everytime I die.
How's the Pop Punk scene in Tennesse? Are there any bands that you'd recomend?
Lucas: Its been growing for a lot of years now but its doing well know. Our hometown friends in Your Favorite Hero have been around a long time and are one of the most underrated bands we know. There's a younger band from Memphis called The Summers that have a lot of potential. We have some other hometown staples that we've been friends with for years like Furthest From Fame and Chokeslam.
In September you released your EP entitled "Nature and Nurture". How did that come together?
Drew: Our last release was in 2009, so we were definitely ready to release something new. After a couple of line-up changes, we were finally ready to put together songs we were really proud of. It was a lot of writing, and re-writing, but that's pretty much the gist.
Lucas: We worked on some of the songs on this record for a year. We really just wanted to make a record that had zero filler. We spent a lot of time making each section of each song exactly what we wanted it to be.
How did you get involved with Little Heart Records?
Drew: Our friends in Caleb Lionheart had told us about the label's involvement with California (a band also from Albany). We approached Little Heart and ended up having a lot of mutual friends--Louisville has become one of those "second home" cities for us. We reached out, and Little Heart seemed to be a group of like-minded and genuine people, so it ended up being a fairly easy decision.
You are currently on an East Coast tour, how has it been so far?
Drew: Great. Some of the best shows we've gotten to play all year.
What has been the best show so far?
Drew: I'd say Myrlte Beach or Raleigh.
What's the wierdest/craziest thing that has happened on this tour?
Drew: Trey ran two miles barefoot through Orlando, wile being chased by two bigger dudes. Senior year.
What does On My Honor have planned in the future?
Lucas: We're doing a music video later in the year for one of the songs off "Nature & Nurture." We're also putting out the record on Vinyl that will be out around Christmas. We're hoping to go overseas at some point next year and I'm sure we'll do a lot more U.S. touring. We're always doing something.
Thanks for your time, any final comments for your fans?
Lucas: We love you Christine. Also, thanks to you guys at Pop-Punk's Not Dead for talking with us.

True Things Interview (New Jersey Pop Punk)
First off, I have to say, I'd take True Things over new I Call Fives anyday.
It's flattering that you think that, I just honestly wish I people would drop the comparing. Kids always compare us and I think it's bullshit because True Things is nothing like and never will be anything like I Call Fives was or is now. Before it was I Call Fives it was Remedy and it was way cooler and the kids in the band weren't acting like complete douche bags. Oh well, live and learn I guess.
How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it?
I would tell them it's melodic music with sad lyrics honestly.
How would you describe the Pop Punk scene in New Jersey?
Man Overboard has taken over. Other than that no one else in the 'pop punk' scene is really taking off to be honest. Lifeless and Suburban Scum have the upper hand right now in the hardcore scene though. We back both of those bands extremely hard.
You recently finished your brand new EP entitled Distractions. How did the record come together?
We initially recorded 12 songs instrumentally with Jake Clarke from Daylight. Once we finished up with them we linked up with Nik Bruzzese from Man Overboard and finished up vocals and a few other minor things we had to do. Out of the 12 we chose five we wanted to release first. We have intentions of releasing more soon.
What were some of your main influences while writing and recording Distractions?
We wanted to write some songs that had more feeling and more texture than our first release. Usually any song I write is inspired by something that effects me in such a way that I need to share the story, and hopefully someone out there can relate on a more personal level with it.
Distractions will be available October 18th via Lost Tape Collective and Working Man Records. How did you get involved with those labels?
Lost Tape is ran by Justin Collier who is one of our best friends. Derek from Working Man contacted me a few months back to do Alone In My Room on tape and I was intrigued that he wanted to go out of his way to help us. It just seemed right to stick with him.
Do you have any upcoming tours planned?
We have a short December tour with some of our friends and another tour following that up with Turnover from Virginia Beach.
Do you plan on playing any shows in shows Canada? The Toronto Pop Punk scene is growing quickly.
Hopefully one day in the near soon future.
What's your favourite show that you've played so far?
We played at Party Expo with some of our Brooklyn friends (Model Home, Man The Change) and that was a really good show. Besides that, I'd have to say the Cincinnati date on our winter tour last year.
What's the craziest thing that has ever happened at a show or while on Tour?
Last new years eve we were on tour with Light Years and Homewrecker and we went partying in Virginia and our friend Taylor was grinding on this poor Indian girl against this small table and the whole table fell apart. They were essentially fucking with clothes on.
What can fans expect from True Things in the near future?
More music, a lot more.
Thanks for the interview, any final comments for your for your fans?
Thank you! Many thanks to everyone who's been supporting us and puts up with our horrible mail order game.
