Fight Fair Interview
I recently had the chance to interview California's Fight Fair.
How would you describe your band to someone who has never heard of you?
Fight fair is an uptempo feel good punk/rock band. We have tons of influences from traditional pop punk, hardcore, surf, to traditional 90s Emo. If you're looking for a fun band to jam out with your friends, Fight Fair is it.
What were some of your favourite moments about last year's warped tour?
It was always a goal of ours to play warped since we started the band so we were very excited when we got the entire tour. My favorite moments were the nightly BBQ parties, the dates in Canada, and meeting tons of new bands/fans everyday.
What's the weirdest thing that has ever happened while on tour?
All I have to say is 4LOKO.... things got pretty weird in the 4loko era.
What has been your favourite show that you've ever played?
My favorite show was our set at the Chicago warped tour. It was our biggest crowd of the whole tour with over 1000 people watching. We had a huge circle pit, tons of crowdsurfing, and the energy was great!
How did your music video for Pop Rocks come together?
Our EP settle the score had just been rereleased on triple crown and we recorded a few new songs for it including pop rocks. Fred @ triple crown wanted us to do a video for it with Robby Starbuck so of course we were down it was our first video. I came up with the surf/beach party concept and we went from there. That video/concept helped us on our way to the writing style we used on California Kicks.
Your music changes dramatically on each of your releases. XFashionX was this kind of post hardcore Pop Punk fusion, Settle The Score had a more straight Pop Punk/Easycore feel, and California Kicks was a Surf Pop album. What can your fans expect on your new EP "Broken".
Fight Fair has always been very eclectic in style. Starting from xfashionx in 2004(real name is choosing sides EP) we were going from a traditional skramz style mixed with pop punk. Since then we have gone through over 20 members with me being the only original. On the BROKEN EP, we really wanted to do an EP that goes back to our roots of when we started but still taking influences from all of our releases in the past. Every fight fair fan past/present will dig broken and I have a good feeling we will gain some new fans.
How was it working with producer Sam Pura?
Working with Sam was great. He's worked done records for a lot of my friends bands in the San Francisco bay area. His studio is sick and we got a lot of great guitar tones, something I think we lacked on our previous releases.
How did you get involved with Triple Crown Records?
Fred @ Triple Crown got a hold of our original Settle the Score EP back in 2007... The rest is history.
What bands are you guys currently listening to?
I've been jamming the new living eyes demo tape, pills demo tape(ex funeral diner), the new beau navire record coming out on react with protest, Loma Prieta, Punch , and vital nerve(current & ex members of fight fair)

Shows, new music, and maybe a nirvana cover.
Do you have any final comments for your fans?
