Latin For Truth Interview
PPND- You’re currently recording your second full length album entitled “Youth Crew Blues”. How did you come up with that title?
Latin For Truth- Well I think it was an alternate title for a track on Eleven Eleven, so I penned it about three years ago. It felt like something Tom Waits would release if he was into PMA and melodic hardcore. I'm into Tom Waits and always wanted to find away to incorporate it into our music. If you don't know much about him as a songwriter or performer, he's into any kind of traditional earthy music: field hollers, prison chain gang call and response, gospel, old country music, etc. He's one of those songwriters that commit themselves to the stories in his songs, most of the time it comes across in the performance portion of his music. It's interesting to me to wear the soil you were raised on. With LFT as a unit, we all have roots in punk rock and hardcore but are distinctly southern. It seemed to be a perfect title to sum us up and the material we wrote for it.
PPND- How has the recording process been going thus far?
Latin For Truth- It's been really stressful, but not because of any outside sources. We're all wanting it to be exactly the same as the way we hear it in our heads. The execution on all the parts written is ace. The dudes in the band all stepped up their game with writing and performing.
PPND- “Diatribe or Die” was quite different from “Eleven Eleven”, what can your fans expect on “Youth Crew Blues”?
Latin For Truth- I've been trying to figure this answer out since we've had a good bit of the record tracked cause I hear more and more in the control room with each playback... I'm not sure what to say. It's hard to describe, sorry for coming across as ambiguous or sarcastic, expect the goofs who wrote Eleven Eleven and then became a real band and recorded Diatribe or Die to perform and write material that is tolerable in your bedroom and at shows.
PPND- How did you guys get associated withMightier Than Sword records? They have a pretty solid roster right now.
Latin For Truth- R.J. at MTS enjoyed the 3 song digital ep, I'm Sick Of Not Having The Courage to Be an Absolute Nobody, and asked when we were planning on tracking Youth Crew Blues. We kept having to push it back so we tracked another three songs, put it with the previous three song ep, and released that as Diatribe.
PPND- Are you stoked for your upcoming tour with Rust Belt Lights?
Latin For Truth- We're unbelievably stoked, I'm actually a huge fan of the band.
PPND- What has been your favorite show that you’ve played?
Latin For Truth- Our cd release for Eleven Eleven. It was easily the most positive experiences I've ever been involved in. 160 kids in our area hanging out, having fun, smiles everywhere you turn.
PPND- What’s your favorite city to play in?
Latin For Truth- Atlanta or Augusta, all our friends are from those two cities!
PPND- What’s the craziest thing that has ever happened on tour?
Latin For Truth- Our old bass player,Christian Caudle, almost got raped by a german speaking giant. The guy grabbed him by the hair, pushed him into a corner, and kept speaking german to him, eventually telling Christian he was going to fuck him till he dies or something.
PPND- Do have any plans on playing in Canada?
Latin For Truth- Eventually yes, we just have to slowly work things into our budget and touring out of the country is not in the budget at the moment, but soon!
PPND- What’s your favorite show that you’ve attended?
Latin For Truth- It's prolly a show I booked for the wonder years in Alabama about three or more years ago. No one was there, I had to pay them out of pocket, but it was like having your favorite band play just for you and your friends.
PPND- What were your favorite albums of 2010?
Latin For Truth- Crime In Stereo - I was trying to describe you to someone, Terrible Things - S/T, Ryan Adams and The Cardinals - III and IV, Hostage Calm - S/T, Grown Ups - More Songs, Born Without Bones -Say Hello
PPND- What can your fans expect in 2011?
Latin For Truth- Big things from small people, all the underdogs are coming up this year.
PPND- Do you have any final comments for your fans?
Latin For Truth- You all rule more than we do, please keep listening and we'll keep writing.

Carridale Interview
I recently interviewed Josh Rozanski from Carridale. Make sure you pick up their new EP at Carridale.bigcartel.com.
PPND- First off, thanks for joining me for this interview. I’ve been a fan for awhile now.
Carridale- Not a problem at all, good sir. and thank you.
PPND- Your new EP “Relapse In the River City” is being released Feb 8th. How did that album come to be?
Carridale- After a couple of tours with the new members (being Kobi, Wayne and myself) it just seemed like it was about time to get some more material out there. Since this was a new line up we didn't want to write in the vein of the last release. We wanted to spice things up a bit and sort of grow out of being an easycore band and into a more colorful and tasteful pop punk band. The writing process was a short one because we all clicked. What we didn't have finished to our complete satisfaction beforehand ended up coming together in the studio. Therefore you have, Relapse In The River City. It's being released February 8th. Be sure to check it out at Carridale.bigcartel.com!
PPND- Are you excited for your record release show Feb 11th, with Latin For Truth?
Carridale- Definitely. Latin For Truth has been good friends of ours for a long time and I actually haven't seen them play in a while. So this will definitely be a fun show.
PPND- How’s the Pop Punk scene in Alabama? The only other band I know of is Latin For Truth.
Carridale- In North Alabama it's very small, but a very thoughtful and less trendy pop punk scene in my opinion.
PPND- What bands have influenced your sound?
Carridale- Jimmy Eat World, The Swellers, Lifetime, The Starting Line, Northstar, The Movielife, Shai Hulud, and so many more.
PPND- What has been your favourite show that you’ve performed at?
Carridale- Personally it's always a tight squeeze between any shows at the White Rabbit in San Antonio or the Red 7 in Austin, Texas. Great people and great bands... and always lots of alcohol.
PPND- Taterz? Wutz Taterz!? is my favourite Carridale song. What’s your favourite song to play live?
Carridale- Taterz and Relapse In The River City are probably my top two picks.
PPND- When are you guys coming to Canada? I’ve been waiting a couple of years.
Carridale- Hopefully sooner than later. Nothing has been set in stone just yet.
PPND- What were your favourite albums of 2010?
Carridale- I honestly don't think I have been listening to anything from 2010. 2009 had Ups and Downsizing by The Swellers, and Forget and Not Slow Down by Relient K, wich are two of my favorite records.
PPND- What can your fans expect in 2011?
Carridale- Touring and more touring... and maybe more tattoos on Kobis noggin.
PPND- Any final comments for your fans?
Carridale- With The Punches has a new record coming out on March 8th. Check it out at withthepunches.bigcartel.com

Live The Story Interview
I recently interviewed Joseph from Live The Story.
PPND- First Off, thanks for joining me for this interview. I'm glad you guys didn't decide to call it quits.
Live The Story- Honestly, I'm flattered that you wanted to do this interview, so thank you! And the choice to keep going as a band was by far the right choice and we feel like there's an even stronger connection now than ever before. When the band was no longer apart of our lives for the 4-5 months that it was, we all realized what we have it seems like there is a good energy that is surrounding the band now.
PPND- How's Maple these days? I lived there in the early 90s when there was only a Mac's Milk and a Phantasmic Video store.
Live The Story- Hahahaha that's crazy! I had no idea you lived in Maple! It's good, a lot has changed since then. A lot more crime, home invasions, more drug problems, wasteful teens, ect. That Macs is still there, alongside several others macs in the area now. The video store however is gone.
PPND- Are you guys writing any new songs?
Live The Story- Yes! Prior to when we took a break, we started writing what we thought was the bands best stuff, but we never got to play any new songs live. We have a few new songs in the works and I can honestly say that it puts the We're In This Together EP to shame.
PPND- Do you have any plans on recording a full length?
Live The Story- If you would have asked me this question on Monday, I would have had a far more interesting answer for you... But we are recording a new EP with 5 brand new songs with a producer that were all very excited to work with. A full length will follow hopefully within a years time.
PPND- Do you have any plans on touring? I know there's one guy in Belgium that loves Live The Story.
Live The Story- That guy rules! I talked to him on Facebook chat and he's been telling me that he's been spreading the word on LTS all over his area and trying to build a scene, which I think is amazing. We do have plans to tour with some good friends (can't say who yet) but until then, we will be playing one off shows.
PPND- What bands have you guys been into recently?
Live The Story- For me personally, A Rocket To The Moon is a new love of mine... Soft, I know. But I love all kinds of music. Mackenzie will forever listen to Senses Fail and I know that Dave is really feeling the new ADTR.
PPND- What has been your favourite show that you've performed at?
Live The Story- To be honest, we have played very few shows as a band and about 3 of them were house shows/ parties and if I have to pick one, I'd say a house party we played north of Newmarket with a melodic hardcore band called River City. They were super cool dudes and made us feel right at home, also getting their friends into us. Also playing with Such Gold and Everyone Everywhere was amazing. Blake does it up good in Bdot.
PPND- What has been your favourite show that you've attended?
Live The Story- Man, so hard to say. I saw H20 at the Reverb which was a small venue in Toronto with Fireworks which was amazing! Such good vibes at that show. And of course, when I was in grade 6 I saw Saves The Day, Simple Plan, Green Day and Blink 182 at the Molson Amp in Toronto... I will never forget that show.
PPND- What band do you dream of sharing the stage with?
Live The Story- Blink 182... I can 100 percent speak on behalf of the rest of the band when I say that as well... Although Mackenzie would also add Senses Fail and I don't blame him.
PPND- What were your favourite albums of 2010?
Live The Story- I feel like a lot of garbage has been put out in 2010 and a lot of people forgot why they make music, and this goes for mainstream levels of music as well. However, Four Year Strong just cleaned house with Enemy of the World... If you don't agree, you probably don't have ears.
PPND- What can Live The Story fans expect in 2011?
Live The Story- A brand new EP, one off shows, touring, and just new everything in general. Were taking everything day by day, while at the same time were slightly planning the future of our band... Weird, I know.
PNND- Any final comments for your fans?
Live The Story- Of course, thank you to the true supporters of our band. I can say on behalf of us that we hope that you have felt a special connection with our music and hopefully it has done something for you, or filled a void in your life. We do this band because we love to and because we want to inspire and create a positive influence of as many peoples lives as possible. Without you guys, our mission as a band would not exist, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
